The conversations around employee turnover are increasing in crescendo in corporate circles. The cost of employee turnover is considered roughly around 2.5 times an employee’s salary. The loss of productivity, cultural repercussions, and lower employee engagement and morale are the other areas that take the hit with employee turnover. Given this environment, we at enreap consider ourselves lucky to enjoy the continued loyalty of our employees.

As we were drawing up the list of employees to be felicitated for our Long Service Awards to be given during the company’s annual day, we realized that a big majority of our workforce has chosen to continue their professional journey with us since our inception a decade back. While many organizations talk about employee engagement and still face retention challenges, it is clear that we are doing something right to be able to enjoy our employee’s trust.

So, what is the secret to employee longevity in enreap?

The technology landscape is intensely dynamic. New developments and advancements in this field are creating more opportunities for job seekers. In this tough market where top talent is highly sought after, we know that gaining employee confidence and loyalty takes intentional effort. Here are a few things that have earned us the trust of our employees.

A Culture Rooted in Deep Respect

Almost 75% of employees who leave their job don’t leave their jobs. They leave their bosses. Caring about employees and creating a corporate culture that is deeply rooted in respect has been our intent since our inception.

Our goal is to be respectful towards every individual that walks through our doors, irrespective of where they stand in the corporate hierarchical structure. Let me tell you the story of Sanjay, our housekeeping staff.

Sanjay is the man-Friday of the organization. There is hardly anything that this enterprising person cannot do. I can safely say that he is perhaps one of the most important people in the organization, as he is the one taking care of all our needs. Sanjay not only makes sure that our premises are clean but also runs errands, gets that bank work done, and knows the tastes of almost every individual in the organization. His tea is legendary.

Sanjay has been working with us since the day we started operations. And today, he is far more to us than an office boy. He is our go-to guy who takes care of all our needs. He takes care of our visitors, both national and international, and goes that extra mile to put a smile on their faces. Most of our vendors know him as well.

Sanjay is indeed a very important part of the enreap family. In fact, the joke around the office is that Sanjay is perhaps the most important person in the whole office – he takes care of the little things that make our day and lives easier. The value Sanjay brings to the table cannot be quantified.

Creating Opportunities for Growth

As an organization, we have always been focused on enabling our employees to drive their professional success. Apart from the obvious career progression pathways, we also ensure that we create equitable opportunities for growth across the whole organization.

New joiners rest easy knowing that tenure has also got nothing to do with promotions here. Those who showcase high performance and the right behavioral attitudes can fast-track careers easily.

Employees also get the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and develop high-tech products to solve pressing business problems. Client exposure, overseas opportunities, and working with exciting, new-age tech are all within hand’s reach.

Not only this, but we have also hired people from other industries because they displayed the right skills along with showcasing behavioral and cultural alignment. We ensure that we provide all our employees with the right tools, learning, support, training, and skill development opportunities to drive professional excellence.

Vikrant, for example, is one of our employees who has been a part of the enreap family in the second year of the company.. Vikrant started his journey with us as the first team member in our accounts team. He initially worked with tools like QuickBooks. Over the years, Vikrant’s exemplary work ethic, team spirit, and professionalism have ensured that he quickly climbs up the corporate ladder. The young guy from the manufacturing industry is working  today in the IT industry & is our master Tally expert. Now he is an integral part of an 8-member accounts team.

Learning Opportunities

When we say flexibility, we don’t just mean flexibility to work from anywhere. We have noticed that our employees truly value the flexibility to chart their own career paths and are not tied down by rigid boundaries to their roles.

We deliver the opportunities that our employees need to grow in a professional environment. To help them thrive, we give them the power of learning and education. We encouraged one of our employees to take up a degree in law to equip him with the skills he needed to set up our Singapore entity. This degree made sense as banking, cash flow, and P & L for SEA and MENA markets would constitute a major part of his portfolio.

Mentoring and Guidance

A key reason that a large part of our workforce has stayed with us is that we deliver enablement along with support. We don’t just register our employees for courses and training. We make sure that they truly expand their knowledge and apply these skills on the floor without fear or worry. We do this through mentoring.

Our managers and leadership are all mentors for their teams. They are always available for guidance, bouncing off ideas, or for some good old accountability needed to drive behavioral changes home. We also help them develop a growth mindset that helps them view all points of failure as learning opportunities.

The mentors provide proactive feedback to their teams that is rooted in empathy. The non-judgmental, open-door, and empathic approach of our mentors provides the encouragement that employees need to navigate challenges with complete confidence.

To Sum It Up

We make sure that we demonstrate to our employees that behind the structure of our organization stands a beating heart. Over the years, our employees have been able to see that we are not just dedicated to helping them become productive in the workplace. Our objective is to help them thrive. For this, we have created an environment rooted in respect, empathy, equity, inclusion, and opportunity.

Our employees can see that we don’t pay lip service to the term ‘our employees are our most valuable assets.’ We live it every single day. As we align our actions to the best interest and well-being of our employees, it creates an ecosystem that becomes organically conducive to growth.

Employee longevity, you see, is a natural consequence of all these efforts that are, in essence, a way of life at enreap
