Today software runs the world. And the original superheroes are the ones who make these beautiful, complex, coherent pieces of code and technology work in perfect symphony. Building cutting-edge solutions that power the enterprises of today is no mean feat and demands environments that are open, enabling, and transparent. And modern. Modern in thought and processes.

We believe enreap is such an environment. But don’t take our word for it. Decide for yourself after you take a look at a day in the life of a techie in enreap –

“I rushed into the office a little late today. There is a complex delivery that is round the bend and our days are filled with nervous excitement as we are in the stage of tying up all the multiple points of technology into a neat little bow. I have my mind buzzing with ideas, tasks that need to be allocated, and things to tick off the to-do list. It looks like a busy day.

As I settle down, my manager walks over to me. I immediately get my planner out to rattle off all the things we are meant to discuss. He pauses and ask me to grab a minute. I am still learning to balance my role as a new mother and my return to work. It’s been a couple of months since I returned after my maternity break and I’m already on a fast-track growth path.

My manager is also my mentor who helps me when this balancing act gets a little tough. He constantly reminds me that work and life are two ends of the same coin. Sometimes one will demand more time than the other. You have to learn how to accommodate the two so that you can be happy. And happiness is an imperative for productivity and performance.

Today is the day for my weekly mentoring and catch-up session as well. Given my past performance, I have been identified to lead a new project and a team! I honestly had a hard time believing my luck. After all, most women worry about their perception and have to undergo many difficulties to get such growth opportunities. I, on the other hand, was back from a maternity break and on to bigger things!

The session that we have is objective, active, driven, and clear. By the end of the allocated time, we have identified the areas that I need to focus on over the next week. There are a couple of Jira certifications I need to get done with and I need to identify what other courses/certifications I need to feel more confident and prepared for my role. We are making sure that we are progressing fast, and I am getting more confident in my capabilities to lead the team.

I take a quick tea break with my workplace buddies, and we catch up on all that’s going on. There’s a company event coming up and everyone is quite excited about it.

I step into my next huddle. We have to iron out certain issues and ensure that we meet the deadline. The great thing is that these meetings do not consume endless hours. We all come prepared with our to-do’s and questions. There is a very high regard for time at enreap. We don’t take it lightly and we don’t spend it in wasteful conversations during meetings.

Things wrap up in time and I am back at my desk furiously working away. I don’t realize that the minutes have slipped into hours. This project is complex, but it is interesting. I love that I am working on such cutting-edge technology and living my dream of being in STEM.

My colleagues came and asked me to join them for lunch. Lunch table conversations are exciting as there is always something or the other happening. One of my colleagues has joined us from the manufacturing industry.

What a difference there is in the two environments, he says. He tells me about his growth at enreap. It is a story he never tires of telling – of how the company recognized his potential and off he went to Singapore to set up our operations there. Of course, there were certifications to consider, and the manager at enreap not only encouraged him to take formal education but gave him the support and guidance needed to prepare him for success.

I get back to my desk after a quick FaceTime call with the baby. It’s funny (and endearing) how everyone around always comes in and gurgles at my little one whenever they can! I get on with the work that needs to be done and delivered. The day continues at its regular pace, and I work without stress and worry about non-essentials and carry on working on my project.

And suddenly I look up and realize that it’s time to head back. Well, I didn’t realize it. I was pinged by my manager who pointed out it was time that I headed back. “That baby needs her mum,” he says. I try to point out that there’s some work that I would like to finish. He says, “You’re in a tech-enabled company, building technology solutions for enterprises for them to become agile and flexible. You can be flexible and finish your work from home, can’t you?” I love how he understands the demands specific to the demographic. I have seen everyone across the organization show empathy and compassion and truly value people for their strengths. They recognize that people are not islands and that the balancing act can get tricky sometimes. And just like we have a family that supports us at home when we go to work, they are the work family that supports our life.

I pack my bag and off I go. Smiling, happy, content, and excited to go home. And for another day at work.”
