The client
Our client is a leading semiconductor company, a pioneer in technology and intellectual property licensing, specializing in areas such as mobile computing, communications, memory, data storage, and 3D IC technologies. The company expanded its innovation capabilities through the formation of Invensas, focusing on next-generation semiconductor technologies. On June 1, 2020, the company completed its merger with TiVo Corporation, creating one of the world’s largest licensing companies. This merger strengthened their market position and expanded their technology licensing portfolio.
Client requirements
Unified Confluence Platform Post-Merger
Consolidate three separate Confluence instances (two from TiVo and one internal) into a single, centralized platform hosted on AWS to support the newly merged organization.
Seamless User Management & Access Control
Ensure uninterrupted access for all existing users (approx. 3000) with smooth integration across multiple identity providers (MS AD and Crowd), without disrupting ongoing workflows.
Data Consolidation & System Compatibility
Migrate and merge data from different Confluence versions, databases (MySQL & PostgreSQL), and configurations, while ensuring data integrity, performance optimization, and plugin standardization across all environments.
Our approach
enreap adopted a holistic approach to tackle the challenges faced by the organization post-merger, emphasizing not only migration but also achieving optimal results through standardization. Our analysis of the three Confluence instances led to the development of a comprehensive Data Center migration roadmap.
Our solution

Multi-Hop Strategy
Implemented to upgrade and merge older versions with the latest, ensuring compatibility across instances.

Performance Optimization
Configurations were fine-tuned to support a global user base of 3000, ensuring efficient operations and system performance.

User Space Migration
Executed the migration of user spaces while integrating with Active Directory and Okta for consistent access management without disrupting existing users.

Standardization Recommendation
Advocated for the standardization of all Confluence spaces, which was ultimately agreed upon and signed off, enhancing operational efficiency across the organization.
