As our Culture Compass series comes to a close, we arrive at the sixth and final way of working — one that, in many ways, ties the previous five together. We have explored getting clarity on why, building great relationships, playing together to win, driving customer success, and expressing openly with integrity. Each of these shapes how we think and how we collaborate. But at some point, every conversation, every alignment, and every shared goal leads to the same moment of truth: a decision has to be made.

This blog focuses on how we make those decisions—responsibly.

What “Take Decisions Responsibly” really means to us

Taking decisions responsibly is not about being cautious for the sake of caution. And it is certainly not about waiting until every risk disappears, because it never fully does.

At enreap, this way of working is about having the courage to step up, get out of your comfort zone, and take risks that benefit the organisation while doing so thoughtfully. It means weighing risk against impact, thinking through consequences for both today and tomorrow, and then committing fully to the path you have chosen.

Responsible decision-making sits at the intersection of two things that often feel opposed: courage and care.

A responsible decision is not the safest one. It is the one made with the fullest understanding of its risks, its impact, and its purpose.

Why this way of working matters

In fast-moving environments, the most expensive decision is often the one that never gets made.

Playing safe can feel prudent, but indecision has a cost of its own. Opportunities pass, momentum stalls, and small problems grow while everyone waits for certainty that never comes. More often than we realise, playing safe causes more damage than taking a timely decision and adjusting course as we learn.

Taking decisions responsibly helps us:

  • Move forward with confidence instead of being paralysed by uncertainty
  • Balance ambition with sound judgment around risk and impact
  • Reduce the hidden cost of delay and missed opportunity
  • Build a culture where people are trusted to act, not just to follow

When people feel safe to decide—and supported when they do—the whole organisation moves faster and smarter.

How this way of working shows up at enreap

  • We step up and take ownership. Responsible decision-making begins with stepping out of your comfort zone and being willing to take risks that benefit the organisation. We encourage people to lean in, not wait on the sidelines.
  • We weigh risk and impact before we choose. Choosing wisely means considering both what could go wrong and what is at stake. We take informed decisions by systematically evaluating potential risks, biases, and their impact—on today and on tomorrow.
  • We take collaborative risks and make collective decisions. The biggest decisions are rarely made alone. We think them through together, draw on diverse perspectives, and support one another as a team—so the risk is shared and the outcome is stronger.
  • We own our decisions and give our best. Once a decision is made, we commit to it. Owning a decision means standing behind it, following through with full effort, and learning openly from the result, whatever it turns out to be.
  • We treat indecision as a decision too. We recognize that delaying a call has consequences. When the moment calls for it, we decide on time rather than defaulting to “safe.”

Why this shapes our culture

This way of working defines how we behave in moments of uncertainty—and those are the moments that reveal a culture most clearly.

It reminds us that:

  • Courage and judgment belong together, not in opposition
  • A timely decision, owned fully, beats a perfect decision made too late
  • Shared risk builds trust, while shared ownership builds resilience
  • Mistakes made in good faith are how we learn, not reasons to stop deciding

When we take decisions responsibly, we build a culture where people feel empowered to act, accountable for outcomes, and supported by their teams every step of the way.

Bringing the Culture Compass together

With this, our Culture Compass series comes full circle. Clarity gives our work purpose. Relationships and collaboration give it strength. Customer success gives it direction. Open, honest communication keeps it real. And taking decisions responsibly is where all of it turns into progress.

These six ways of working are not framed posters on a wall. They are the everyday behaviors that shape how we think, how we work together, and how we move forward—as individuals and as an organisation.
