Required Experience
5+ years of direct experience planning and executing DC-to-Cloud migrations using Atlassian Cloud Migration Assistant (CMA) and related tooling
Demonstrated experience migrating enterprise-scale instances
Proven track record of managing multiple concurrent migration projects across business units
Technical Requirements
Atlassian Platform Expertise
Deep knowledge of Jira (Software, Service Management, Work Management), Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo in both DC and Cloud environments
Expert-level understanding of Atlassian Cloud Enterprise features: organization admin, data residency, Atlassian Guard (formerly Access), release tracks, sandboxing
Proficiency with Cloud Migration Assistant (CMA), Jira Cloud Migration Assistant, and Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant
Experience with Atlassian APIs (REST, GraphQL) for scripting migration tasks, data validation, and automation
Migration Technical Skills
Experience conducting pre-migration assessments: app compatibility analysis, customization audits, data hygiene reviews, and user mapping
Ability to design and execute phased migration strategies (big bang, parallel run, incremental migration)
Hands-on experience with Marketplace app migration — evaluating Cloud equivalents, working with vendors on data portability, and managing app-specific migration paths
Familiarity with ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira, JSM assets (Insight) migration considerations
Functional Requirements
Project & Stakeholder Management
Ability to lead discovery workshops with enterprise stakeholders to assess migration readiness and define scope
Experience creating and maintaining detailed migration runbooks, rollback plans, and communication plans
Skilled at managing change management efforts — end-user training, adoption strategies, and post-migration support
Strong ability to coordinate across IT, Security, Compliance, and business teams
Assessment & Planning
Conduct comprehensive Current State Assessmentof DC instances including:
Instance health checks and data quality audits
Custom workflow and scheme complexity analysis
Third-party app inventory and Cloud compatibility mapping
User/group/permission structure review
Develop Migration Readiness Scorecards and risk registers
Create detailed effort estimates, timelines, and resource plans
Post-Migration
Experience with UAT (User Acceptance Testing) planning and execution for migrated environments
Proficiency in post-migration validation — data integrity checks, permission verification, automation rule testing
Ability to provide hypercare support during the stabilization period
Knowledge of DC decommissioning best practices
Certifications (Preferred)
Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) — Jira Administration or Confluence Administration
Atlassian Cloud Organization Admin certification
ITIL Foundation or higher
PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent project management certification
Soft Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication — able to translate technical migration details for executive stakeholders
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting under pressure (migration windows, rollback decisions)
Collaborative mindset with experience working in globally distributed teams
Comfort with ambiguity — enterprise migrations frequently encounter undocumented customizations and edge cases
Ability to mentor junior team members on migration best practices
